Tom Parker is a multi award-winning photographer. He has a reputation for shooting interesting stories in challenging environments. He has shot in over 70 countries with a particular interest in Africa and Asia.
This year alone he’s been nominated for the Taylor Wessing Photography Prize, the Prix Pictet for his work in Indonesia, and recently won Best in Show at the AOP Awards for an essay on Modern Day Mongolia. He has been shown at galleries around the world including the ICA and Somerset House in London.
His long-term projects include IND* — documenting the rise of Modern India told through the prism of industrial development. He recently completed a two-year, behind-the-scenes project with Wimbledon Tennis, which was awarded the Gold Medal for the Best Independent Publishing Photography Story by the Society of Publication Designers in America.
After training as a broadcast journalist, he worked for BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service in Europe and Asia. He became a full time photographer whilst living in Sri Lanka in 2004 when the Asian tsunami hit. He has subsequently lived in India and Nepal.
His work has been published in The Guardian, Financial Times, GEO, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, GQ, Conde Nast Traveler, Vogue.
